NEW!  We have changed our desk arrangements into groups of 4 (1 group of 5).  Students brainstormed a team name to represent each member of their team and designed a name tag to be displayed proudly in the centre of each group.  This final month, each team will try to earn points in a number of ways...

Image result for images of team clip art
  • collaborating with each other using positive, motivating team talk
  • keep group work area neat and tidy
  • arriving to school on time
  • having all necessary tools and materials ready and at school
  • participating actively in all subject areas
  • encouraging others and showing kindness and compassion
At the end of each week, the team with the most points will earn a special privilege / treat.   Good luck to all teams!  Ask your child about his group name and team members tonight!

Coach Wilson

Congratulations to Daniela Majano Rivera and Zienna McIntyre for winning students of the month on Kindness and Compassion!

Image result for images of open-book tests clip artHello Parents and Players!

Yes, parents, it IS true, your gr. 2 child IS telling you truth....the end-of-the-unit Science test on Air and Water WILL BE OPEN BOOK.  This unit mirrored much of what we learned in Solids and Liquids, so I am eager to wrap up this unit to move on my favourite unit and our final unit Animals and Habitats!  So, yes, review the green Science duo tang, but the information (if needed) in the Science duo tang will be available during the test.

Gr. 3 - Since we are in the middle of EQAO, our end of the unit Math test will be later next week AFTER EQAO.   We are technically done our unit, but one assessment at a time is more than enough...

Drama - we are in the midst of rehearsing our mini-skits in Homophone Hubbub.  Ask your child about his/her role and which homophones they are having fun with...you will laugh!

Thank you for getting EVERYONE to school on time today!  Yay!  All went very well and students are putting in a good solid effort!  Tomorrow is our first section of two in Math... Bring it on!

EQAO - Yes, EQAO begins this Tuesday!  Hopefully, you were able to see the kind of practice work we have been working on throughout the year over the weekend.  Students do not have to complete the work I send home Friday,  I just told them to show you to give you all an idea of what the test will look like.  Please return Tuesday.  We are super excited to show what we already know on this grade three assessment!  Students are MORE than prepared!  Please try to make every effort to make sure your child arrives to school on time (8:45 am) for the next 6 school days.  Testing will take place as follows...

  • Get enough sleep by going to be on time
  • East a healthy breakfast to get their brains fueled up!  I promised the students that I would be bringing in some yummy snacks from Costco each day!  Oddly, this seemed to pump them up!
  • Give positive words of encouragement to your child each day!
Thank you for scheduling all appointments outside of the times for the next week and a half. We appreciate your cooperation!

Image result for images of swim to surviveSwim to Survive is officially over! You all should have received your child's Swim to Survive Certificate last week stating whether they achieved the Swim to Survive Safety Standards or Did Not Yet Achieve the Swim to Survive Safety Standards.  If your child did not meet the standards, it is highly recommended that you enroll them in swimming lessons as a precautionary measure.  It could mean the difference of saving a life!

Image result for images of 30 degrees celsiusGrade 2s - This week will be busy...there will be a Math test on Thursday and a Science Test on Friday.  WOW test will also be on Friday as usual.  I will send home the information that needs to be reviewed for 2 days before each test.
